Akshay Kumar has given proof of getting Indian citizenship on Instagram. He has also shared the photo of the documents. Wishing Happy Independence Day, Akshay Kumar has written, ‘Heart and citizenship are both Indian. Jai Hind’ Akshay Kumar was congratulated by people on this post.
One of his fans commented, “Finally haters have stopped talking.” Another user wrote, “Congratulations on getting Indian citizenship..” Section 5(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955 Indian citizenship has been given under (g).
Why did Akshay Kumar take Canadian citizenship?
Talking about his citizenship in an interview, Akshay Kumar had said, ‘India is everything for me. Whatever I have achieved, I have done so. I am lucky that I got a chance to do something for the country. Akshay had also told that at one point of time more than 15 of his films had flopped, which was the reason that motivated him to take Canadian citizenship.
He also said in the interview, ‘I thought that my films are not working and one has to do. I went there for work. My friend was in Canada and he said come here. After which I applied and got citizenship. I just had two films left to release. Luckily both became superhit. My friend said go back and start working again. After that I started getting work. I forgot I have a Canadian passport. The thought of getting this passport replaced never came, but now I have applied to get my passport replaced.
