Drishyam and Rocky Handsome Director Nishikant Kamat dies at 50

Director Nishikant Kamat died Monday at a Hyderabad hospital due to multiple organ failure. He was 50 years old. Nishikant Kamat best known for his films’ Mumbai Meri Jaan ‘ Drishyam’ Madaari and Rocky Handsome, Force. Nishikant Kamat, who suffered from chronic liver disease and secondary infections, was admitted to the AIG hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad on July 31.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh confirmed the same through a tweet that said: “I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat Rest In Peace.”

Ajay Devgan, who starred in Nishikant Kamat’s Dishyam, tweeted: “My equation with Nishikant was not just about┬áDrishyam, a film which he directed with Tabu and me. It was an association that I cherished. He was bright; ever-smiling. He has gone too soon. RIP Nishikant.”

Paresh Rawal tweeted, “One of my favourite Director Nishikant Kamat Who made ÔÇťMumbai Meri Jaan ÔÇťbreathed his last today┬á at Hyderabad hospital. Thanks Nishi for such a meaningful film and memories. AUM SHANTI.”

Nishikant Kamat made his directorial debut in 2005 with the Marathi film Dombivali Fast, which won the National Award for Best Film in Marathi. Nishikant Kamat carved his own space in Bollywood over the years. He directed Hindi films such as Force, Drishyam, Rocky Handsome, and Madaari. Kamat was also known for his performances in Daddy, Rocky Handsome and Julie 2.
