Indian director Leena Manimekalai recently released the poster for her documentary ‘Kaali’, which caused a stir as soon as it was released. People express their displeasure with the movie poster. People say the poster hurt Hindu sentiments.
After seeing this poster, people started trolling the filmmaker on social media, and #arrestleenamanimekalai started trending up on Twitter. In fact, in the poster, the mother is seen smoking a black cigarette. People claim that their feelings were affected by Lina’s action. In the poster, alongside Kaley smoking a cigarette, a trident is shown in one hand, and the LGBTQ community flag in one hand, which people are pissed off to see. While many users have demanded action against those who have done so by tagging the police and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, several people are calling for the director to be arrested.
Controversy has already happened
This is not the first case that Hindu deities have appeared in a disapproved state. Even before that, there was a lot of controversy about such scenes in many films. which was also included in Aamir Khan’s movie ‘PK’. which Lord Shiva mocked. In 2021, Saif Ali Khan-Starrer web series ‘Taandav’ allegedly sparked controversy for creating religious tension by portraying Hindu deities in a bad light.
Users Complained to Amit Shah and PMO
One user wrote upon seeing the poster of the documentary Kali, “Every day the sentiments of Indian religion are hurt. They are testing our patience. Not only that, users who have tagged Amit Shah for PMO have also demanded action on this poster and film.
