Bollywood director and producer Karan Johar has expressed regret at the closure of the cinemas in Delhi. Along with this, he has appealed to the Delhi government to open movie theaters. The Delhi government has recently issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ in Delhi due to the increase in Omicron cases and the increasing impact of covid-19. Under the alert, the state’s schools, universities, movie theaters, and gyms will remain closed with restrictions.
Due to which all the theaters in Delhi have been closed since December 28. At the same time, the filmmakers have postponed the release of their films.
Karan Johar (Karan Johar Appeal To Delhi CM) wrote in his tweet, “We urge the Delhi government to allow theaters to operate. Cinemas are equipped with a better ability to ensure a hygienic environment while maintaining the norms of social distancing as compared to other settings in and out of the theatres.” In his tweet, Karan has tagged the Governor of Delhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Chief Minister’s Office. He has also written Cinema Are Safe with the hashtag.

The release date of Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer ‘Jersey’ has been postponed from December 31 only after the Delhi government announced the closure of cinema halls.
