The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, and Aditya Roy Kapur. Being a sequel to the 1991 film, the film had received attention as it marked Mahesh Bhatt’s return to the directorial position after two decades, as well as his first collaboration with his daughter Alia.
Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 trailer was released Wednesday and quickly became the least liked video on YouTube, 5.3 million “dislikes” and 272,000 “likes” less than 24 hours later.
Starring Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapor, and Sanjay Dutt, Sadak 2 was caught in the line of fire amid the debate over nepotism raging in Bollywood following the sudden death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
The film has social media as a shining example of Bollywood nepotism, since shortly after Sushant Sing Rajput’s death. Fans of the late Bollywood actor have been actively campaigning on social media for the past few weeks urging everyone to boycott “Sadak 2.”
