“My father’s reputation…” Mithun Chakraborty’s son’s big statement about the movie ‘Gunda’
Mithun Chakraborty, whose films are often referred to as the ‘Poor man’s Amitabh Bachchan’, has a huge fan base not only in India but also abroad. The 80’s to 90’s period in Bollywood has been well known by Mithun. People today make fun of his films of that era, but Mithun Chakraborty has survived because of those films. Mithun could survive in the film industry only because of his hard work.
Along with this, Mithun was also trolled a lot for the B grade film. A section of the country used to watch Mithun’s films with interest, but the 1998 film ‘Gunda’ changed everything. This film by director Kanti Shah was very bold. Along with Mithun, it featured actors like Mukesh Rishi, Shakti Kapoor, and Mohan Joshi in lead roles. Mithun’s son Namashi Chakraborty has commented on this film.
Namashi explained that his father should not have done this film. Speaking to ETimes, Namashi said, “I think Gunda is a very infamous film. People of today’s generation think that only my father can do such films, Gunda became popular only because of its badness. I like that movie too, but I feel my father should not have done this movie considering his moral level then. This film ruined my father’s reputation.”
Mithun’s son Namashi is also all set to make his debut in Bollywood. He will step into this world with the film ‘Bad Boy’ directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Mithun Chakraborty will also be seen in a special role. Apart from this, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Darshan Jariwala will also be seen in important roles.
