Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers won the 2021 NL Cy Young Award last season for the Milwaukee Brewers. There are so many good pitchers in the National League. The biggest challenge for them will now be having to face the designated hitter every time they step on the mound compared to facing opposing pitchers.
The MLB Lines for the 2022 NL Cy Young are out. In order to make it to the playoffs in the MLB, it is very important to a top-line pitcher. What are the odds for the 2022 Cy Young in the National League?
Corbin Burnes, Walker Buehler, and Max Scherzer +700
It is very strange that Vegas has three players with the same odds at the very top to win the National League Cy Young. Let’s start with Corbin Burnes.
He will be the ace of the Milwaukee Brewers rotation. Milwaukee will be one of the favorites to win the National League Central this year and potentially be a World Series favorite because of him.
Burnes pitched in 28 games last season for the Brewers. He pitched in 167.0 innings and only gave up 123 hits and gave up 47 runs. Corbin Burnes only walked 34 batters and struck out 234 batters, along with a 0.940 WHIP.
Walker Buehler is one of the best young pitchers in all of baseball. He has great command of his fastball, changeup, and breaking pitches. Buehler is the ace of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He pitched in 33 games last season. Walker Buehler’s record was 16-4 with a 2.47 ERA. He pitched in 207.2 innings and gave up 149 hits and 61 runs. Buehler also walked 52 batters and struck out 212, along with a 0.968 WHIP.
He is going to win a lot of games this season because the Los Angeles Dodgers have a loaded lineup and they are going to give him run support.
After pitching with the Washington Nationals and the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, Max Scherzer will be pitching with the New York Mets for the next three years. Scherzer could potentially be dealing with a minor hamstring issue, but it shouldn’t be an issue at all.
He is going to have to be the ace with Jacob deGrom out for the first month of the season and potentially more for New York. Max Scherzer might be getting the deGrom treatment with the Mets by not getting enough run support.
Max Scherzer pitched in 30 games last season. His record was 15-4 with a 2.46 ERA. Scherzer pitched in 179.1 innings and gave up 119 hits and 53 runs. He also walked only 36 batters and struck out 236, along with a 0.864 WHIP.
Brandon Woodruff and Zach Wheeler +1000
Brandon Woodruff pitched really well last season for the Milwaukee Brewers, but he didn’t get enough run support and will need to this year if he is going to win the NL Cy Young Award. Woodruff is the number two pitcher in their starting rotation behind Corbin Burnes.
Brandon Woodruff pitched in 30 games last season for Milwaukee. His record was 9-10 with a 2.56 ERA. Woodruff pitched in 179.1 innings and gave up 130 hits and 54 runs. He only walked 43 batters and struck out 211 batters last season, along with a 0.965 WHIP.
Zach Wheeler was in serious consideration for the NL Cy Young last season for the Philadelphia Phillies. He and Aaron Nola will be the one-two punch in this rotation for Philadelphia. Wheeler was wheeling and dealing last season for them.
He pitched in 32 games. His record was 14-10 with a 2.78 ERA. In 213.1 innings pitched, Zach Wheeler gave up 169 hits and 72 runs. He only walked 46 batters and struck out 247 of them, along with a 1.008 WHIP.
