Alfred Molina’s Otto Octavius was mentally bonded with his robotic arms in Spider-Man 2 during a public demonstration with his fusion reactor that killed his wife, Rosie. With the inhibitor chip protecting him from the fried arms AI, Otto became unstable and, as Doctor Octopus, stole money to rebuild his reactor, colliding with Spider-Man in the process. In the end, however, Otto was able to exercise control over the arms.
